Elder Cook Week Fifteen

We had an amazing temple activity, where every missionary in the mission came and
brought investigators, and the guy that was our first baptism spoke at it!
He was awesome.

Hey Familia!

Ah man what an amazing week it’s been!

These are all the people baptized Saturday from our District!  There were a total of 6.

We had two baptisms Saturday and I had the opportunity to baptize someone!  This guy was so ready. He is one of the escogidos that we are always told to look for.  I don’t know if I already told you this, but he contacted us in the street about our 4th week here and asked how he could become a member of our church.  Because we couldn’t find members and other reasons, we didn´t start teaching him until about a couple weeks ago!  We gave him a couple folletos before and he ate them up.  He practically memorized the Restauracion and repeated it back to us!  We taught him nearly every lesson and commandment within a week.  He has turned his life around and he even wants to go on a mission!

We also had another guy that was baptized.  His cousin, who is a returned missionary, has been doing work for us!  She introduced him to us and practically taught him all the lessons before we got there, and we have a new family in the works from her!

The members are really, like that awesome broadcast talked about, the only way that missionaries can teach.  Always, always give references to missionaries, and then go with them to the lesson or (even better) let them teach in your home!!  Missionaries can´t do it alone.  Hey dad, do you have any cool analogies or cool stories or object lessons you used when you taught_  I love using them.

Me hacen falta mucho!  Love you!

Elder Cook Week Fourteen

Familia,

Got the card, I can buy peanut butter but yeah its expensive, I am going to train a new missionary once my companion leaves so I won’t transfer for another three months. Sorry I had a picture to send you but I’m running out of time. Where is our last name from?

We got a new ward mission leader!  He’s awesome and has a crazy story.  He’s half Italian, born in Italy, moved to Utah, served his mission in Utah, met his wife in the Spain temple, and moved to Honduras!  He’s super dedicated to the church and is starting up programs for the baptisms!!

Thanks for all the emails!  Tanners going to do awesome!!  I’m so excited for him.  Tell him that I love him and good luck for me!

Love,

Elder Cook

Elder Cook Week Thirteen

We had a baptism Saturday!!!!  It was amazing!  He was so excited and so ready to become a member.  I have never seen a happier man than him in that hour.  I don´t think he ever stopped smiling, even when he was crying.  He gave a testimony after being baptized and said ¨to any of you that are thinking about being baptized, today is the day to decide¨ His testimony was so powerful!  A family of investigators asked to be baptized after the service because of him.  The man we baptized asked me to give a talk and sing at the service!  It was pretty scary.  The crowd had to help me out with a few words.  Our goal is to have 6 baptisms with 2 families this month, and so far we are off to a great start!  Next week we should have 2 more.

I contacted a guy on the street yesterday!  We were talking and he was looking super positive, and I gave him a foyetto and everything!  And then I realized he was super drunk.  Kind of a bummer.  Oh the packages!  Can I just tell you how great those were?  The day before we bought a few things from the store like beans and a couple packages of crackers and we said wow that shelf looks so good when it´s full of food, and then the next day we got the packages and then it really was full!  I have never been so grateful for peanut butter.  I have eaten most of the jar with a fork.  Love you guys!  The church is so true!

Elder Cook Week Twelve

Elder Cook's 19th birthday
Hey Familia!

I´ll tell you what.  Rain is a missionary´s best friend!  It rained almost every day this week and we ate it up.  It makes missionary work so much easier when people feel bad that you´re wet and let you in!  We had 22 lessons this week and a bunch of contacts!  It was so great.  My chair broke again!  Honduras is just not made for me I think.  I don´t need anything I´m doing fantastic!  This week for sure we have at least one baptism.  Sorry I will write more next week!  Those pictures took a while to send.

Con amor,

Elder Cook
