Elder Cook Week Eighty-Nine

Hey Familia!

We had another great and busy week!  Monday we played some basketball as a zone.  It was a little sad to see how bad I’ve gotten, but it was great to play some ball again!  And the Latinos got bored and went to play soccer, so we got to play Gringo ball, so that was sweet.

We also had two intercambios [splits] this week, Wednesday with the Assistentes [Assistants to the President] and Friday in El Carman in the zone. I went to Tegucigalpa with Elder Holt on Wednesday.  Man it was awesome, we had a lot of fun together and I learned a ton from him.  He’s always been a good friend in the mission.  Then Friday we had another intercambio and I went to El Carman with Elder Bendayan from Peru.  He’s finishing up his training right now.  Man it was crazy cold in El Carmen!  I’m pretty sure I almost froze out there.  It was the first time I’ve been cold in my whole mission!  It made me miss Mom because it reminded me of all those scout camp outs I went on and how she always told me to wear a jacket and I never did so I suffered at night freezing to death.  But this time no one even warned me!

We had a baptism!  It was awesome. This hermana has changed so much over the past month.  She’s happier and super excited to be a member of the church.  She can’t wait to be able to have her own eternal family.  She came to church on her own one Sunday and asked if we could teach her and has always been super active ever since.  The first night we gave her a Book of Mormon she read a ton and highlighted and prayed, and knew just after that night that it was true.  She’s an amazing convert and we are grateful to have met her.

I think that’s about it

Love you!

Elder Cook Week Eighty-Eight

Sorry no time for a letter this week, we’re working hard. This week we’ve worked with another set of missionaries to help their investigators get the paperwork and wedding so a family can be baptized.

Here's pictures from Zone Conference

Elder Cook Week Eighty-Seven

Hey Familia!

We had two amazing baptisms yesterday!!  Everything went great and they gave such heartfelt testimonies at the end. Then today in church, a member gave one of the people baptized a white shirt and tie, and then another member gave him another tie! This ward is so great.  It was really nice to see that when we leave here that they will be in good hands.

Kinda funny story. The other day it was raining crazy, crazy, hard, and up in the pueblo it’s all dirt streets and there were literally rivers running down it.  We were walking home at about nine through the mud until we hit the river.  My companion decided to go back a ways where it was more shallow, but I just took a running start and jumped it.  I got my ankle kinda wet, but not too bad.  Apparently some guy was watching me and he decided to follow, but he was a littler guy.  So he took a couple of practice starts, and then did it for real.  I believed in him because of all the effort he put into it, but he landed about half way into the river, and walked out soaked up to his thighs.  He stopped and looked at me and just said, “Almost.”  I died laughing for a couple minutes and then we got a great contact out of it!  We are going to visit him and his family this week.

Our zone is doing awesome!  Right now we have the potential of baptizing more this month than the last couple of months combined!  Everyone’s really focused and working hard to meet goals and find more people to teach.  I love getting the chance to learn how to be a better leader and to help other missionaries reach their potential.  Everything’s great over here in Beautiful Rocks. [Piedras Bonitas, Comayagua]

Love you guys,

Elder Cook

Elder Cook Week Eighty-Six

We loved seeing a short video of a few missionaries, including Elder Cook on the mission blog "My mission has changed my life because"
